LibreQoS
LibreQoS keeps customers happy by reducing latency for interactive online applications. Internet Service Providers (ISPs) report that trouble calls simply melt away after deploying LibreQoS.
For an ISP to deploy LibreQoS – no changes are required for existing Routers, Switches or Access points: LibreQoS runs on a server that acts as a managed bridge sitting between the edge router and the core of the network. LibreQoS servers can shape traffic for many thousands of customers.
LibreQoS also helps network operation and planning by measuring end-to-end TCP round trip time for each Subscriber, Access Point, and Site on a network – saving the relevant data for later analysis.
LibreQoS code is Open Source. It improves Quality of Experience (QoE) by implementing state of the art Flow Queueing (FQ) and Active Queue Management (AQM) algorithms. LibreQoS offers paid support packages and subscriptions to additional analysis service features available through LibreQoS LTS.
LibreQoS and Your Network
Happy Customers
Ensure the most latency-sensitive end-users (gamers, remote workers, remote learners) have a great experience
Performance
Control congestion at every point in your network fabric - and deliver performance that sets you apart from the competition
Reduce Churn
Alleviate the most common pain points for customers who stream video, play video games, and video conference.
LibreQoS allows network operators to mitigate latency under load (bufferbloat) at every possible congestion point in the network fabric – providing a smooth, stable end-user experience that can help ISPs maintain existing customers as well as attract customers. Many of us take it for granted that it is “normal” for an end-user’s video call to stutter or disconnect when someone else on the same home network is watching a 4K video. That is actually a symptom of bufferbloat, and can be mitigated with LibreQoS. LibreQoS ensures the most latency-sensitive end-users (gamers, work-from-home clients, remote learners) have a positive experience, which in turn increases customer retention and reduces ISP costs related to support tickets, calls, and truck-rolls.
Before LibreQoS
Unshaped link. Access Point airtime ceiling hit.
After LibreQoS
The same link – shaped at 25/8 Mbps with LibreQoS.
The Importance of Low-Latency Connectivity
Employment
Keep remote workers productive and employed
Education
Keep students engaged and on-track with their peers
Equity
Reduce educational and employment inequities
Health
Ensure reliable access to tele-medicine
LibreQoS can improve the reliability of end-users’ voice and video calls transiting the network. With work-from-home, remote learning, and tele-medicine becoming increasingly common – it is important to minimize any disruptions to video calls and VoIP that might otherwise occur due to bufferbloat within the ISP network.

Equinix
Equinix supports LibreQoS through its Open Source program – providing access to hardware resources on its Equinix Metal infrastructure. Equinix’ support has been crucial for LibreQoS to scale past 10Gbps for higher-bandwidth networks. Learn more about Equinix Metal here.
NLNet
LibreQoS has been funded through the NGI0 Entrust Fund, a fund established by NLnet with financial support from the European Commission’s Next Generation Internet programme, under the aegis of DG Communications Networks, Content and Technology under grant agreement No 101069594.
Long-Term Stats
Long-Term Stats (LTS) is an analytics service built for LibreQoS that revolutionizes the way you view your network. With flexible time window views ranging from 5 minutes to 1 month, LTS provides you comprehensive insights into your network’s performance. Built from the ground-up for performance and efficiency, LTS greatly outperforms our original InfluxDB plugin, and gives you rapidly rendered data to help you maximize your network performance.
